EdTech Leaders Online (ETLO)

EdTech Leaders Online (ETLO) is a nationally recognized online professional development program developed by the Center for Online Professional Education (COPE) at Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC). ETLO works with school districts, state departments of education, regional education service centers, colleges and universities and other educational organizations to enable them to use online learning to meet critical teacher quality and student learning goals. ETLO offers graduate level online professional development, virtual school training programs and a catalog of online workshops focused on specific K-12 subject areas and grade levels.

Since the beginning of the program in the fall of 2000, EdTech Leaders Online has trained over 1200 online specialists to provide online courses for teachers, administrators and students in over 35 US states and territories.

Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC)

With over 325 projects around the globe, Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC) is one of the world's leading nonprofit organizations. Founded in 1958, EDC has long been a leader in curriculum development, professional development, educational research, and innovative uses of technology in education. EDC conducts research and develops programs in early childhood development, K-12 education, workforce preparation, learning technologies, institutional reform and other areas. EDC, with headquarters in Newton, MA and major offices in New York City and Washington, DC, currently employs more than 500 staff members. Major funders of EDC's work include the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Center for Online Professional Education (COPE)

EDC’s Center for Online Professional Education (COPE) supports local capacity building, employs research-based practices, builds learning communities, applies technology to enhance teaching and learning, meets the needs of diverse learners, and uses evaluation data to inform decision-making. COPE works with education leaders in the areas of technology for teaching and learning, mathematics education, cultural diversity, and web-based education. COPE has collaborated with the Harvard Graduate School of Education to develop the Leadership and the New Technologies Institute and related online activities. COPE’s projects are supported by a variety of funders, including the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Education, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Public Broadcasting System, AT&T Foundation, state departments of education, school districts, and private sector organizations.
