"Ben Franklin's Life and Times"
Sample Lesson Plan
Step 6: Group Projects: Revising Stage
Target Objectives
- Students learn how to revise their compositions to improve organization
and other elements, and incorporate suggestions from peers.
- Students learn how to participate in peer editing sessions to help classmates
revise their writing.
Student Activities
- Revise writing through peer response sessions; groups read their work aloud
to each other and give each other feedback
- Each group conferences with me for additional feedback
- Use appropriate software (word processor and drawing software mentioned
above) to revise writing; save each draft
Electronic Resources
Assessment
- Use Rubric 6
- Save each draft of the project as a separate file; have students add each
draft to their assessment portfolios so that eventually they can compare them
with their final products.
Impact of Technology: In what ways (if any) will technology enhance students'
learning experiences in these activities?
- Children will learn how to edit their writing using software tools. Hopefully
students will find it easier to edit using computers, so they will spend more
time thinking about improving their writing.
- Several drafts can be dated, saved and compared.
